How can we help?
Search common questions, or get in touch and we'll get back to you.
Getting started
Who can use Swoper?
Anyone in South Africa who is 18 or older can create an account. You'll need an email address and you'll choose the area you're in, so we can show you what's available nearby.
How do I list an item?
Tap the + button, add a few clear photos, give your item a title, description, category and condition, and post it. Be honest about condition; it leads to smoother swops and better reviews.
Why can't I sign in?
Check that you've confirmed your email address using the link we sent you. If you've forgotten your password, tap Forgot password on the sign-in screen. Open the email link on the same phone where Swoper is installed.
Offers & swops
How many offers can I make?
Free accounts can make 20 offers in a 6-hour period. The period starts when you send your first offer, and your allowance renews when the 6 hours end. Verified members can make unlimited offers.
How many items can I list?
Free accounts can have up to 5 active listings at a time. Closed, swopped and removed listings don't count towards the limit. Verified members can list as many items as they like.
What happens after my offer is accepted?
A chat opens between you and the other swoper. Use it to agree on a time and a public place to meet. After you've swopped, mark the swop as complete and leave a review.
The item wasn't as described. What can I do?
Always inspect items before you hand yours over; you can walk away if something isn't right. If you've had a bad experience, leave an honest review and report the person in the app so our team can look into it. Swoper isn't a party to swops, so we can't guarantee items, but we do act on reports.
Verified subscription & billing
How do I get verified?
In the app, open Get verified. Upload a photo of your identity document and a selfie, then subscribe for R29.99 per month. We review your identity privately; your badge and benefits apply once you're approved and your subscription is active.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are billed by Apple or Google, so you cancel them in your device's store settings. On iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions. On Android: Google Play → Profile → Payments & subscriptions. You keep your benefits until the end of the paid period.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds for subscriptions and boosts are handled by Apple or Google under their refund policies. You can request one through Apple or Google Play.
What is a listing boost?
A boost is a once-off purchase that shows one listing higher in the home feed and search for 1, 7 or 30 days. It starts when activated and doesn't renew. It increases visibility but can't guarantee offers or a swop.
Account & privacy
Who can see my information?
Other members see your name, profile photo, area, verified badge (if active), listings and reviews. Your email, phone number and identity documents are never shown. Read our privacy policy for details.
How do I block someone?
Open their profile or one of their listings, tap the menu and choose Block. You can also report them from the same menu. See our safety tips.
How do I delete my account?
Go to My Profile → Account settings → Delete account, or request deletion by email. Deleting your account doesn't cancel a store subscription, so cancel that first.
